The freestanding building in front of the Elizabeth Lofts has either been empty or under construction for so long, we pretty much stopped paying attention. But it looks as though Isabel is finally, almost, ready to open.

Isabel Cruz, the restaurant's namesake, is releasing her first cookbook, Isabel's Cantina, at the same time. Join Powell's Books and Isabel Cruz on Wednesday, Oct. 10th from 5 - 6:30 p.m., for a special reception celebrating the book, as well as to get a preview and tasting of the new restaurant.

Restaurateur/chef Isabel Cruz has earned acclaim over a decade for her signature Latin/Asian fusion style which she now brings to Portland. Her new restaurant, Isabel (in Portland’s Pearl District), relies on the bold flavored ingredients common to both Latin and Asian cuisines—like mangoes, limes, chiles, mint, ginger, coconut, and cilantro—creating fresh, delicious dishes with an eye for health.

The new Isabel restaurant is located at 330 NW 10th Ave. in the Pearl District.
