Willamette Week is reporting that Pearl District developer Robert Ball is considering a run for mayor, that is, if Mayor Potter doesn't run for reelection. Ball is responsible for numerous Pearl District developments over the past few years, including the Marshall-Wells Lofts, the Avenue Lofts and The Wyatt.
Even if he doesn't run for mayor, it seems Ball is no stranger to lobbying for change. Just last month, Willamette Week wrote about his quest to change club policy at Columbia Edgewater to allow spousal privileges for gay members' partners.
And for another interesting read, here's an older Portland Business Journal profile on Ball.

Let's see ... screws HOA with multiple building defects in one of his previous projects. Shouldn't honesty and integrity be ideal characteristics for a mayor?

bob ball built an non eco friendly, NON- LEED building then sold it out to a group from out of town who will make it a building that will dump garbage into our landfills. Good job MR.Ball, you dumped on Sam Adams, now you dump on the city. I hope you made millions on your awful building.
signed,
roger, living in the shadow of your edifice. I will not vote for adams, but i would never vote for you.

I live in the Marshall-Wells, across the street from Ball's office. I see him driving his Jaguar, Mercededs,BMW and Ferrarri around town. I paid more than $10,000 in assessments because he built a bad building. Beware of Bob Ball. He is rich, I am not. If he will screw a bunch of homeowners, then sell out a condo for a profit, leaving people homeless, is this the guy you want in government?
